Our organization at a glance
Tangail Disabled Peoples’ Organization to Development (Tangail DPOD) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental Self-help Disabled Peoples’ Organization (DPO) working for the development of all to improve the status of persons with disabilities at the grassroots and district level.
Tangail-DPOD works to include people with disabilities in development policies, planning and in their decisions-making processes. Tangail-DPOD believes in that People With Disabilities must and should be part of their own, and society’s development process. Tangail-DPOD aims to ensure equal rights, opportunities and participation of all Persons with Disabilities in the mainstream development process. Tangail-DPOD has its working approach that is called “Disabilities Self-Initiative to Development (PSID)” initiated by Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS).
Tangail-DPOD is affiliated to Bangladesh BPKS at the national level, with elected representatives to form Tangail-DPOD sitting on the National Council, the governing body of BPKS. This ensures people with disabilities participate in decision making from the grassroots to the national level.
